Senior Engineer, Autonomy Foundations

Who you are

You have a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. With over 5 years of production-focused C++ software development experience, you have a strong foundation in designing and implementing high-performance software systems. You are passionate about autonomous driving technology and understand the critical role that localization and mapping play in ensuring safety and functionality.

Your expertise in C++ allows you to develop robust, real-time software that meets the demands of onboard and offboard systems. You have experience in conducting code reviews and guiding junior team members, ensuring code quality, correctness, and efficiency. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams, including algorithm experts in perception, motion planning, and controls.

Desirable

Experience with localization and mapping systems is a plus, as is familiarity with collision detection systems. You are comfortable providing technical leadership and establishing APIs for localization-mapping interaction. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly makes you an asset to any team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will drive the end-to-end design, implementation, and testing of high-performance C++ software for onboard and offboard localization and mapping pipelines. You will be responsible for ensuring that the onboard systems are optimized for real-time performance while also validating the performance of these systems through offboard pipelines. Your contributions will be central to the overall functionality of the autonomous vehicle system.

You will collaborate closely with the mapping team to establish effective APIs for localization-mapping interaction, ensuring seamless integration between systems. As a senior engineer, you will conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and promote best practices in code quality and design across the organization. Your technical leadership will help shape the direction of the localization team and contribute to the success of the autonomous driving stack.
