SpaceX is hiring a Propulsion Engineer to design and support mechanical and electro-mechanical control assemblies for the Raptor engine. You'll work with CAD and various engineering disciplines to ensure the reliability of components. This role requires experience in mechanical and electromechanical systems.
You have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with experience in designing and analyzing complex systems. Your expertise in CAD allows you to generate detailed engineering drawings and specifications that maximize vehicle reliability. You are familiar with electromechanical systems and understand the integration of mechanical and electrical components. Your knowledge of pneumatics and experience in high-pressure environments make you a valuable asset to the team. You are proactive in identifying hardware issues and implementing solutions early in the development process. As a Propulsion Engineer on the Raptor Components team, you will conceptualize, model, and draft mechanical and electro-mechanical control assemblies that run the Raptor engine. You will be responsible for generating and improving CAD models, engineering drawings, and component specifications. Your role will involve conducting risk assessments and spearheading root cause investigations to address any issues that arise during development, production, testing, and integration. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that your designs meet the requirements for simplicity, manufacturability, and reliability in extreme environments. You will take a lead role in design and flight readiness for the Starship vehicle, contributing to the architecture trades that will enable humanity's exploration of Mars. Your ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders will be crucial as you manage relationships with hardware suppliers and test teams.
