Sr Software Development Engineer, Amazon Fulfillment Technologies, Inbound Foundation and Routing Team

We are looking for Senior Software Development Engineers who are seeking opportunities to apply their past experience supporting to build scalable and robust software solutions that deliver a great customer experience. Join AFT Tech Team and be part of developing large-scale, distributed systems which optimize the fulfillment of customer orders. Interface with the physical world including conveyors & robots, and most importantly your systems will be used by thousands of associates to delight millions of customers. In this role the Sr SDE will be responsible to engage multiple teams and design/develop and support large-scale, multi-tiered software applications and tools. A successful candidate for this position will be able to build new software from the ground up, create pragmatic solutions for complex business problems, enjoy working closely with operations staff in Amazon fulfillment centers around the world. We have a startup culture that focus on being agile and nimble in the face of ambiguities and complexities while dealing with multiple orgs within amazon. The teams are structured to enable fast decision making, smaller and quick launches.

Key job responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and delivering software and automated solutions to enable products that are used in Amazon fulfillment centers worldwide. The system that you build will have a direct impact on the Top Line performance of the company to the tune of hundreds of millions (USD). You will have influence on subsystem design and help build a team culture around practices that are critical to a quality product.

About the team
Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers Amazon’s global fulfillment network. We invent and deliver software, hardware, and data science solutions that orchestrate processes, robots, machines, and people. We harmonize the physical and virtual world so Amazon customers can get what they want, when they want it.

This role is for the AFT Inbound Foundations and Routing team (IBFR) team which is responsible to build core software components/services that orchestrate the movement of inventory within a warehouse and interfacing with sortation and SCOT systems for high fidelity promise and planning decisions. Worldwide, the IBFR team supports 570+ FCs across NA, EU and JP regions.
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
