Sr. Solar Cell Process Engineer (Starlink)

Who you are

You have a strong background in solar cell manufacturing processes, with at least 5 years of experience in the field. Your expertise includes chemical etching, PE-CVD, and PVD, and you understand the intricacies of developing high-quality solar cells for aerospace applications. You are skilled in setting up production lines and have experience with equipment procurement and commissioning. Your ability to lead and develop a production team is complemented by your knowledge of process development and optimization. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about contributing to innovative technologies that support space exploration.

Desirable

Experience with wafer inspection tools and gas and chemical distribution systems is a plus. Familiarity with ultrapure and wastewater treatment equipment will enhance your ability to contribute to our production goals. You are a proactive problem solver who enjoys tackling challenges and improving processes.

What you'll do

As a Senior Solar Cell Process Engineer at SpaceX, you will spearhead the development of state-of-the-art production processes for our solar cell production line. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of setting up a greenfield solar cell production plant, which includes equipment procurement, plant design and layout, and equipment commissioning. You will develop recipes and processes that ensure the production of high-efficiency solar cells for our Starlink satellites and future missions to the Moon and Mars. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that production meets the highest standards of quality and efficiency. You will also work on optimizing existing processes and implementing new technologies to enhance production capabilities.
