SpaceX is seeking a Senior Environmental Regulatory Engineer to lead the acquisition of environmental permits at Cape Canaveral. This role requires 5+ years of experience in environmental compliance and collaboration with various stakeholders.
You have a Bachelor's degree and over 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, demonstrating a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and permitting processes. Your expertise allows you to effectively manage the acquisition of environmental permits, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You excel in collaborating with internal teams, including Facilities, Civil, EHS, legal, engineering, and operations, to identify permitting needs and integrate them into project timelines. Your ability to conduct risk assessments for permitting requirements enables you to advise on strategies that mitigate regulatory delays or non-compliance risks. You are also skilled in monitoring regulatory changes and updating internal policies accordingly, ensuring that the organization remains compliant with evolving regulations.
In this role, you will lead the acquisition of all environmental permits at Cape Canaveral, including air, stormwater, industrial water, and various environmental resource permits. You will act as the primary interface for KSC/CCSFS/Space Florida and state/local agencies, managing application preparation and submission to ensure timely compliance and minimal disruptions to operations. Your responsibilities will include preparing reports, audits, and documentation for internal reviews and regulatory submissions, as well as serving as the primary point of contact for external regulatory agencies such as the EPA and state environmental departments. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to identify permitting needs and integrate them into project timelines, ensuring that all necessary permits are acquired efficiently. Additionally, you will conduct risk assessments for permitting requirements and advise on strategies to mitigate regulatory delays or non-compliance risks. Your role will also involve monitoring regulatory changes at federal, state, and local levels, updating internal policies and procedures accordingly to maintain compliance.
