Overview

Nebius AI is seeking a Systems Engineer to build services for managing Virtual Machines on GPU servers. You'll work with technologies like Kubernetes and Linux to develop a Virtual Machine Scheduler across clusters. This role requires experience in containerization and virtualization.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a solid background in systems engineering, particularly in managing virtual machines and cloud infrastructure. Your experience with containerization and orchestration, especially with Kubernetes, is highly valued — you understand not just deployment but also development aspects. Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as KubeVirt and QEMU/KVM is a significant plus, showcasing your ability to work with advanced virtualization solutions.

Your knowledge of Linux and system-level architecture is robust — you grasp internal OS architecture, performance considerations, and resource management intricacies. You are well-versed in POSIX standards, sysfs, system calls, and file systems, which allows you to optimize system performance effectively. You thrive in collaborative environments and are eager to contribute to innovative projects that push the boundaries of AI cloud infrastructure.

You are passionate about AI and machine learning, understanding their implications in cloud computing. Your problem-solving skills are top-notch, and you enjoy tackling complex challenges that require a deep understanding of both hardware and software engineering. You are also committed to continuous learning and professional growth, eager to stay at the forefront of technology advancements.

Desirable

Experience with distributed systems and managing large-scale deployments is a bonus. Familiarity with GPU servers and their management will set you apart, as will any contributions to open-source projects or community initiatives in the cloud computing space.

What you'll do

As a Systems Engineer at Nebius AI, you will be part of the Compute Node team, responsible for building and managing services that handle Virtual Machines running on GPU servers. You will integrate these services with disk management and virtual networks, ensuring seamless operation across multiple data centers. Your role will involve developing the Virtual Machine Scheduler, which operates across clusters with thousands of servers and tens of thousands of GPUs, enhancing the efficiency and performance of our cloud infrastructure.

You will collaborate closely with other engineers and teams to design and implement solutions that meet the needs of our customers in the AI economy. Your work will directly impact how we deliver cloud computing resources, enabling businesses to solve real-world challenges without incurring massive infrastructure costs. You will also engage in troubleshooting and optimizing existing systems, ensuring high availability and performance.

In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will have opportunities to mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing. You will participate in design reviews and contribute to the architectural decisions that shape our cloud infrastructure. Your insights will help drive innovation and improve our service offerings.

What we offer

At Nebius AI, we provide a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package that supports your professional growth. We value flexibility in the workplace, offering remote working arrangements that allow you to balance your personal and professional life effectively. You will be part of a dynamic and collaborative environment that encourages initiative and innovation, where your contributions will be recognized and valued.
