Job Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for experienced and motivated technical managers to coach, grow, and partner with technically skilled, customer-facing Solutions Architects. This role will support the Private Equity business development team in the Americas. You will help develop the industry’s best cloud-based solutions architects by enabling and coaching them on best practices, solution selling, presentation and speaking skills, as well as how to create and present value-driven architectures of widely varying size and complexity. In collaboration with Business Development and Sales, you will drive platform adoption and revenue growth across a broad set of Private Equity-backed customers, and will be a key contributor to shaping the PE strategy for AWS.

In this role, you will need to be technically capable and credible in your own right as well as effective in shaping the customer and solutions-focused skills of your team. You must enjoy learning and introducing new technology in order to help colleagues, customers and partners embrace and adopt new technology. Furthermore, thought leadership in terms of looking beyond the technology and considering the value technology creates for our customers, and helping to change how technology is viewed are important aspects of the role. You will need to be adept at interacting, communicating and partnering with other departments within AWS such as our services teams, marketing, professional services, and representing your team to executive management. This role will be responsible for a team of senior Solution Architects. As their leader you must be passionate about developing these professionals and working to continue their career advancements and growth.


Key job responsibilities
• Lead the NAMER Private Equity team in developing and executing technical strategies that align with AWS business objectives. Drive innovation in cloud engineering and prototyping methodologies, identifying emerging technologies that enhance AWS service offerings.
• Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of solution architects, cloud and prototyping engineers. Attract, retain, and grow top technical talent while fostering a culture of innovation, inclusion, and continuous learning.
• Partner with product teams, service teams, and other engineering organizations to identify opportunities for technical innovation and process improvements. Represent the Private Equity team in cross-organizational initiatives.
• Ensure the team maintains a deep understanding of customer needs and pain points. Translate customer feedback into actionable prototyping and engineering initiatives that deliver measurable value.
• Establish engineering best practices while effectively managing team resources, including headcount, budget, and technical assets. Make data-driven decisions to maximize impact and efficiency.
• Serve as a technical leader and advocate within AWS. Contribute to technical discussions, participate in architecture reviews, and help shape the broader technical direction of the organization.
- 10+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 5+ years of managing a technical team of solution architects, sales engineers or similar technical roles experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent
- Experience developing technology solutions and evangelizing end-to-end technology roadmaps that guide IT transformations toward cloud computing
- Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences and at C-level, including training, workshops, publications- Experience architecting, migrating, transforming or modernizing customer requirements to the cloud
- Experience partnering with Private Equity customers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $180,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $312,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
