Who you are

You have a strong background in actuarial science, with experience in valuation processes and a deep understanding of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) markets. Your analytical skills are top-notch, allowing you to establish Incurred but not Reported (IBNR) projections and risk adjustment accruals effectively. You are proficient in SQL and Python, using these tools to expand existing frameworks and drive new insights. You thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with cross-functional teams to investigate performance trends and inform budget planning and pricing strategies. You possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to convey complex actuarial concepts to non-technical stakeholders clearly. You are detail-oriented and have a strong commitment to accuracy in your work, ensuring that all projections and analyses are reliable and actionable.

Desirable

Experience with health insurance valuation processes is a plus, as is familiarity with financial modeling and forecasting techniques. A background in data analysis or business intelligence tools would enhance your ability to provide insights that drive strategic decisions. What you'll do

As a Senior Analyst, Actuarial - Valuation at Oscar, you will play a crucial role in supporting the valuation processes for various ACA markets. You will establish and communicate accruals for the monthly close process related to IBNR claims and risk adjustment deals. Your analytical expertise will be essential in investigating actual performance trends, which will inform budget planning and pricing strategies. You will collaborate with the actuarial team and other departments to ensure that all analyses align with company goals and regulatory requirements. You will also participate in the department's rotational program, gaining exposure to different aspects of actuarial work and contributing to team projects. Your insights will help shape Oscar's approach to risk management and financial planning, ultimately impacting the company's success in serving its members.
