Google is seeking a Senior Security Engineer for their Public Sector team to oversee security assessments and design innovative security strategies. You'll work with cloud security principles and various security protocols. This role requires 5+ years of experience and an active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.
You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. With at least 5 years of experience in security assessments, security design reviews, or threat modeling, you have a solid foundation in security engineering, computer and network security, and security protocols. Your expertise includes delivering comprehensive security solutions through design, coding, configuration, and deployment. You possess an active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance and are capable of obtaining advanced DoD 8140 DCWF certification. You may also hold certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GCIH, GCIA, or OSCP, showcasing your commitment to professional development.
You have experience in a regulated industry, such as finance, healthcare, or government, which has equipped you with the knowledge to navigate complex security landscapes. Your understanding of cloud security principles and best practices is complemented by your experience securing cloud environments, particularly with platforms like Google Cloud Platform. You are serious about security and confidentiality, and you thrive in collaborative environments where you can share your expertise and contribute to innovative security strategies.
In this role, you will collaborate with the Facilities Management team to create innovative security strategies that protect Google's assets and data. You will investigate breaches and develop risk assessment plans for the future, ensuring that security is integrated into the core of Google's design and development processes. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the deployment and operation of security information and event management (SIEM) systems, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and other security tools. You will leverage cyber threat intelligence to conduct ongoing network hunt activities, identifying active and dormant threats within the environment.
You will also develop and implement custom-built AI-driven security detections and workflows, enhancing the overall security posture of the organization. Your role will require you to stay updated on the latest security trends and technologies, ensuring that Google remains at the forefront of cybersecurity. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that security measures do not compromise customer service, embodying the belief that effective security can coexist with excellent user experiences.
