Overview

Microsoft is hiring a Data Center Technician to stage, set up, and perform hardware deployments while troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment. This role is based in Santiago and offers opportunities for career growth within Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation team.

Job Description

Who you are

As a Data Center Technician at Microsoft, you will be responsible for staging, setting up, and performing hardware deployments in our data centers. You will have a foundational understanding of data center operations and will be eager to learn and grow in this field. You are detail-oriented and capable of following Standard Operating Procedures to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and accurately. You will also be involved in troubleshooting and diagnostics on equipment, which will require a methodical approach to problem-solving. Your ability to work collaboratively with peers will be essential as you provide guidance and support to others in the team. You are committed to understanding security and data management procedures, which are critical in maintaining the integrity of our operations.

Desirable

While specific technical skills are not required, familiarity with hardware components and basic troubleshooting techniques will be beneficial. A willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies is essential, as is a proactive attitude towards personal and professional development.

What you'll do

In this role, you will perform key tasks that are vital to the operation of Microsoft's cloud services. You will be involved in hardware deployments, ensuring that all equipment is set up correctly and functioning as intended. Your responsibilities will also include performing hardware decommissions for simple changes and refreshes, which will help maintain the efficiency of our data centers. You will work closely with a team of subject matter experts, gaining insights into the core infrastructure that supports services like Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. This position will allow you to deepen your understanding of data center standard processes and procedures, and you will have opportunities to develop mentoring skills as you guide your peers. You will also participate in training and growth opportunities offered by Microsoft, including Career Rotation Programs and professional certifications.
