Job Description

Join our mission to revolutionize sustainable shopping at Amazon! The EU International Technology (INTech) - Circularity team is seeking passionate and innovative Software Development Engineers to help define and deliver sustainability-focused initiatives that empower customers to make informed, environmentally conscious purchase decisions. Our mission is to make Amazon the go-to destination for customers who want to maximize the lifetime value of their purchases while minimizing their environmental impact.

Key job responsibilities
As a Software Development Engineer on the Circularity – Circular Demand team, you will be instrumental in developing scalable, customer-facing features that integrate seamlessly into core Amazon experiences, including Search and Product Detail Pages. You will manage the entire software development lifecycle, from ideation and design to implementation, testing, deployment, and support. This role involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including UX designers, product managers, legal partners, and other tech teams.

Working within a diverse, high-performing team based in Paris, you will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and elevate engineering excellence. Your contributions will directly support our long-term roadmap, which includes integrating AI models developed by our Applied Scientist to identify circular product selection, making Amazon’s demand generation systems more "circularity-aware" to improve discoverability and personalization, simplifying the evaluation and comparison of durable products, and amplifying post-purchase services to help customers maximize the lifespan of their purchases.

About the team
You will join the Circular Demand team, a full-stack development team based in Paris (CDG10). Comprised of Software Development Engineers and an Applied Scientist, we focus on creating impactful, customer-facing features across Amazon’s shopping journey. Our work, driven by customer feedback and in line with emerging EU sustainability regulations, positions you to influence both customer experience and industry standards for the future.- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of professional software development experience.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C++, C#, or Python.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.
- Professional working proficiency in English.- Track record of leading projects from conception to deployment.
- Experience designing system architectures and making technical trade-off decisions.
- Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms.
- Proven ability to articulate technical challenges and solutions clearly to both business and technical stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices (e.g., code reviews, version control, CI/CD, testing).
- Experience mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of engineering excellence.
