Job Description

We are seeking a stellar geographic information systems (GIS) specialist to join the Kuiper Global Service Compliance (GSC) team supporting Amazon’s Project Kuiper. Amazon’s Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about technology, enjoys being continually challenged, and demonstrates sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.

We are looking for a GIS Specialist to partner closely with accounting, business, legal, engineering, and other teams to solve problems, drive alignment, and ensure decisions appropriately consider GIS requirements globally. As a GIS Specialist for GSC, you will support and contribute to research, writing, and review of policy as it relates to the use, storage, and provision of GIS data to demonstrate Kuiper’s compliance with its communications service provider obligations. You will layer into requirements and process design, implementation, and maintenance of GIS databases, applications, and systems.

You will intake complex issues, foster shared understanding by asking detailed questions about proposed implementation and execution strategies, and drive clarify for the path forward. To be successful in this role, you must have strong communication skills and be able to present complex information clearly and concisely. You are comfortable managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment and understand a broad range of analytics techniques and know how to use them to drive productive conversations, identify roadblocks, and routinely deliver results on time.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in geography, geographic information systems, computer science, or a related field- 2+ years of driving process improvements experience
- Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
- Experience managing compliance obligations at a telecommunications or internet service provider

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
