Waymo is seeking a Senior Staff TLM in Perception and Object Detection to enhance their autonomous driving technology. You'll work with Python and machine learning to develop perception systems that interpret the environment around self-driving cars. This role requires extensive experience in AI and computer vision.
You have 5+ years of experience in AI and machine learning, with a strong focus on perception and object detection. Your background includes developing algorithms that interpret complex data from various sensors, and you have a deep understanding of spatial-temporal representations. You are skilled in Python and have experience with large-scale data processing, enabling you to create efficient models that learn continuously from real-world data.
You possess a solid foundation in computer vision techniques and have successfully implemented systems that handle the complexities of real-world interactions. Your collaborative spirit allows you to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including research and engineering, to optimize and integrate perception systems into autonomous driving platforms. You are passionate about leveraging data to solve real-world problems and improve safety in transportation.
Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch is a plus. Familiarity with autonomous vehicle technologies and the challenges they present will help you excel in this role. You are also open to mentoring junior engineers and sharing your knowledge within the team.
In this role, you will lead the development of perception systems that enable Waymo's autonomous vehicles to understand their surroundings. You will collaborate with the Perception team to create algorithms that efficiently process and analyze data from a diverse set of sensors. Your work will involve developing models that can learn from millions of miles of driving data, ensuring that the Waymo Driver can navigate complex environments safely and effectively.
You will conduct research to address real-world challenges in perception and object detection, working closely with other teams to integrate your solutions into the Waymo Driver. Your contributions will directly impact the performance and reliability of autonomous driving technology, helping to shape the future of mobility.
You will also be responsible for optimizing models for both onboard and offboard hardware, ensuring that they perform efficiently in real-time scenarios. As part of your role, you will analyze real-world behavior and develop systems that can adapt to changing conditions, enhancing the overall safety and user experience of Waymo's services.
Waymo provides a competitive salary range of $281,000—$356,000 USD, along with eligibility for an annual bonus program and equity incentive plan.
