Google is seeking a Data Center Technician to install, configure, and maintain hardware and server software. You'll work with Linux and networking protocols in Sterling, VA. This role requires experience in troubleshooting technical equipment.
You have experience with the assembly of mechanical or electrical systems, or performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment. You are physically capable of lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and can exert yourself physically over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting. You are adaptable and can work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, and holidays. You have at least one year of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols. You are comfortable collaborating with teams to overcome issues and can effectively execute verbal and written instructions.
As a Data Center Technician at Google, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware such as servers and their components, as well as server software like Google's Linux cluster. You will perform component-level repairs and preventative maintenance on IT equipment based on identified issues. You will work in a team setting to disassemble equipment that has reached its end-of-life and manage security issues in accordance with Google’s standards. Your role will require you to adapt to changes in a dynamic work environment and effectively communicate with your team to ensure smooth operations.
