Job Description

Are you excited about revolutionizing how advertisers interact with one of the world's largest advertising platforms through the power of Generative AI? Do you want to be at the forefront of building an intelligent Assistant that combines state-of-the-art Large Language Models with rich advertising data to transform how businesses optimize their advertising campaigns?

We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our innovative team. You'll design and build AI solutions that help advertisers understand their performance, identify growth opportunities, and automate campaign optimizations. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the architecture and implementation of an AI-powered assistant that will be used by thousands of advertisers globally to drive their business growth.


Key job responsibilities
Technical Architecture & Development:
* Lead the technical architecture and design of the Advertising Assistant platform, including the integration of Bedrock agents and foundational models
* Design scalable solutions for processing and analyzing large volumes of support case data
* Architect solutions for real-time personalization and proactive customer support engagements
* Build and optimize systems to improve AI model performance using real-world interaction data

Leadership & Team Development:
* Mentor junior engineers on software design patterns, coding best practices and project execution
* Lead code reviews and provide technical guidance to ensure high-quality, maintainable code
* Foster a culture of engineering excellence through knowledge sharing and training sessions
* Guide team members in architectural decisions and complex technical challenges

Cross-functional Collaboration:
* Partner with product managers and scientists to translate business requirements into technical solutions
* Collaborate with other Amazon Ads tech teams to integrate new capabilities into the platform

System Optimization:
* Identify and implement opportunities for improving system performance, reliability, and scalability
* Design and implement automated workflows for content analysis and knowledge extraction

A day in the life
As a Senior SDE on the Help and AI team, you'll build AI-powered solutions that help thousands of advertisers succeed on our platform. Your typical day includes designing new Assistant features, conducting code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers. You'll collaborate with scientists to enhance AI model performance and work with product managers to align technical solutions with business needs. You'll solve complex challenges around real-time personalization, large-scale data processing, and automated workflow optimization, while helping build a strong engineering culture.


About the team
The Support Products & Services (SP&S) Help and AI team leads the transformation of advertiser support through innovative AI solutions. We develop and maintain a conversational Assistant platform, which leverages Large Language Models and Bedrock agents to provide automated, intelligent support to Amazon Ads customers. Our collaborative team of engineers, product managers, and scientists tackles complex challenges in AI automation, personalization, and knowledge management. We're expanding our capabilities and seeking experienced engineers who are passionate about applying AI technology while mentoring others. Join us in shaping the future of advertising support!- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
