Twitch is seeking a Software Engineer II to join their Video Platform team, responsible for building and maintaining systems that enhance the video experience for users. You'll work with Java and collaborate with cross-functional teams. This role requires 3+ years of software development experience.
You have 3+ years of professional software development experience or equivalent expertise, ideally with a background in building backend services. Your educational background includes a B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science or a related discipline, or you possess equivalent years of experience. You are passionate about mentoring and developing other engineers, contributing positively to the engineering culture at Twitch. You thrive in collaborative environments, effectively partnering with Product Managers and Technical Program Managers to deliver high-quality solutions.
Experience with video streaming technologies or platforms would be a plus, as well as familiarity with cloud services and microservices architecture. You are eager to learn and adapt to new technologies, and you have a strong understanding of software development best practices, including version control and testing methodologies.
As a Software Engineer II at Twitch, you will build and maintain the services that power Twitch’s video platform, ensuring a seamless experience for both viewers and creators. You will collaborate with a larger team of Software Developers, Product Managers, and Technical Program Managers to design and implement features that enhance the platform's capabilities. Your role will involve mentoring junior engineers, helping them grow their skills and navigate challenges in their projects. You will contribute to the engineering culture at Twitch by sharing knowledge and best practices, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and innovation.
You will be responsible for writing clean, maintainable code and participating in code reviews to ensure high-quality standards are met. Additionally, you will engage in troubleshooting and debugging to resolve issues that arise in production, ensuring the reliability and performance of the video services.
