Uber is hiring a Staff Generative AI Engineer to design and develop conversational GenAI systems for customer support. You'll leverage your expertise in machine learning and data analysis to enhance user satisfaction and operational efficiency. This role requires extensive experience in building GenAI models.
You have extensive experience in building and owning Conversational GenAI models over multiple years, demonstrating a strong understanding of product and operational metrics and what it takes to improve them. Your background includes a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, equipping you with the necessary theoretical knowledge to excel in this role. You are highly motivated and possess a passion for enhancing customer experiences through innovative technology solutions. Your ability to analyze data and derive insights is complemented by your technical skills in machine learning and engineering.
You have a proven track record of designing, developing, and productionizing Conversational GenAI solutions, particularly in customer support engineering. Your expertise spans generative AI algorithms, agentic AI design at scale, and NLP for query understanding and ranking responses. You are comfortable with distillation techniques and have experience in deploying models for real-world applications. Your collaborative spirit allows you to work effectively with cross-functional teams, brainstorming new solutions and iterating on products to meet user needs.
You are a natural leader, capable of technically guiding and mentoring engineers. You thrive in environments where you can provide constructive feedback on code and designs, helping your teammates grow and improve. Your analytical mindset enables you to design and analyze experiments using a combination of data analysis and statistical techniques, leading your team to reasonable inferences that drive product innovation.
Experience with large-scale systems and a deep understanding of customer support operations would be advantageous. Familiarity with cost-saving strategies and operational efficiency metrics is a plus, as is a background in data-driven decision-making processes.
