Who you are

You have extensive experience in mainframe environments, particularly with COBOL, and have a strong understanding of critical application development in the financial sector. Your expertise in managing batch and transactional processes is complemented by your ability to lead modernization initiatives in hybrid architectures. You are proficient in IBM z/OS and are ready to drive the evolution of legacy systems with a focus on stability, security, and scalability.

You have a solid background in designing and developing applications in COBOL, and you are skilled in implementing and maintaining processes using CICS and TSO for transaction management. Your experience includes designing and administering JCL for efficient batch process execution, and you are adept at modeling and optimizing data structures in VSAM and DB2-Host.

You are familiar with automating and monitoring batch processes using Control-M and have experience operating in IBM 3270 environments. Your proficiency with IBM IDz (Rational Developer for z Systems) allows you to develop, debug, and test applications effectively. You are committed to optimizing the performance of COBOL programs and queries in DB2 and VSAM, ensuring that applications run efficiently and reliably.

Desirable

Experience with additional mainframe technologies or tools would be a plus, as would familiarity with agile methodologies and collaborative development practices. What you'll do

In this role, you will analyze, design, and develop critical applications in COBOL for the financial sector, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. You will design and administer JCL to execute batch processes efficiently, optimizing performance and ensuring that data structures in VSAM and DB2-Host are managed effectively. Your role will involve automating and monitoring batch processes using Control-M, allowing for streamlined operations and reduced downtime.

You will operate in IBM 3270 environments, providing support and troubleshooting as needed. Your expertise with IBM IDz will be crucial as you develop, debug, and test applications, ensuring that they are robust and scalable. You will also focus on optimizing the performance of COBOL programs and queries in DB2 and VSAM, contributing to the overall efficiency of the systems you work on.
