Job Description

Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we’ve designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

Project Kuiper is seeking an Production Operation Manager to lead the high-volume production operations for our communication satellite production. Kuiper’s constellation will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Kuiper Production is seeking a dedicated and results-driven Operations Manager for our day shift operations. This role is vital in ensuring smooth and efficient production activities during off-hours. The Operations Manager will oversee the nightly workflow, working closely with supervisors, leads, engineering, supply chain, planning, and fulfillment teams, ensuring operational goals are met with safety, quality, and delivery. The role is based in Redmond or Kirkland, WA.

Key job responsibilities
- Lead and manage night shift production activities to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and quality standards are met.

- Collaborate closely with supervisors and leads to align shift goals, manage labor allocation, and resolve personnel or workflow issues in real-time.

- Partner with engineering, supply chain, planning, Program Management Office and fulfillment teams to support smooth production flow and timely issue resolution.

- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as throughput, quality, and downtime; implement corrective actions as needed.

- Identify process improvement opportunities, drive lean initiatives, and support implementation in coordination with day-shift leadership.

- Report directly to the day-shift Production Manager, providing nightly updates on performance and progress against production goals.
- Drive operational excellence with a combination of data analytics and Lean operations.
Estimated schedule for this role is M-F 5:30am -3:00 pm.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.


A day in the life
As a day shift Operations Manager at Kuiper Production, the role involves overseeing end-to-end manufacturing activities by collaborating closely with supervisors, team leads, and cross-functional partners including engineering, supply chain, planning, and fulfillment. The manager ensures smooth nightly operations, resolves production issues in real time, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and maintains alignment with daily production targets. Coordinating with supply chain and planning ensures materials and resources are available, while working with engineering helps quickly address technical challenges. The Operations Manager reports directly to the day shift Production Manager, providing updates on performance metrics, shift outcomes, and any escalated concerns to ensure continuity across shifts.


About the team
Project Kuiper's mission is to provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Production of Kuiper's develpoment satellites takes place in Redmond and Kirkland, WA that will meet the demands of the full constellation.- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership- 2+ years of driving process improvements experience
- Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
