Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
  • 14 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 12 years with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
  • Experience building, developing, or leading a team.
  • Experience with revenue recognition and ASC 606 guidelines.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in a technical accounting or similar role at the SEC or FASB.
  • Ability to have a collaborative style and work with cross-functional and international teams.
  • Ability to sponsor and oversee the management of a portfolio of projects and programs.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work with minimal guidance and in a team environment.
Google accountants are a savvy bunch who manage the core accounting responsibilities at Google. You know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end-to-end. You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. Every day is a new growth, and you're continually looking for ways to help our team become more efficient and effective. A team player at heart, you collaborate with our global team, advocate best practices and pitch in where needed. You move fast while keeping your attention to detail, and you utilize your problem-solving skills to support business objectives. You're a business partner for your specific group and direct the month-end close process and resolve issues as they arise, while keeping those affected by these issues informed as needed.

As a member of the Google Tower within the Alphabet Technical Accounting team, you are at the forefront of navigating accounting guidance for arrangements. You partner and collaborate to understand go-to-market offerings and constructs. You provide a point of view on technical accounting issues and drive impact by thinking on your feet and proposing alternative structures.The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $198,000-$279,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Conduct technical research on accounting issues and provide accounting consultation advice to business partners under US GAAP.
  • Lead the implementation of the new U.S. GAAP accounting standards, including working with various cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Draft and maintain global accounting policies and memos.
  • Keep business partners informed of developments in accounting and financial reporting through issuance of publications, facilitation of training sessions and meeting forums, and drafting of comment letters to standard setters.
