Job Description

The AWS World Wide Public Sector Legal team is looking for an attorney to fill the position of Corporate Counsel to support Amazon Web Services, a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon.com. Amazon Web Services is at the forefront of the cloud computing and service industry, providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services and more.

We are seeking an experienced Corporate Counsel to join our Global Public Sector Legal Compliance team. In this role, you will provide expert legal advice and guidance on compliance matters related to Amazon's public sector business worldwide, including government contracting, procurement regulations, and public sector-specific laws and policies across various jurisdictions.

The ideal candidate must be adept at working with multiple stakeholders to navigate complex matters. You must be able to prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines, and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and changing environment.

Key job responsibilities
- Advise internal clients on legal and regulatory ethics and compliance issues in the global public sector space
- Develop, implement, and oversee compliance programs and training for public sector business units worldwide
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting public sector business across multiple jurisdictions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and mitigate legal risks and to ensure alignment of compliance efforts
- Manage public sector compliance messaging and accountability across Amazon
- Oversee post-government employment review process, ensuring compliance with regional laws and regulations
- Consult on political law and gift compliance
- Coordinate organizational conflicts of interest compliance
- Manage relationships with outside counsel and seconded counsel on public sector compliance matters- 5+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- 2+ years focused on government contracting or public sector compliance
- Familiarity with global public procurement regulations and knowledge of U.S. Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS)- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
- Experience managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines
- Experience with international, national, state, and local contracting and political law
- Experience implementing, auditing, and managing a global compliance program
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Experience in technology or cloud computing industry a plus
