Formlabs is hiring a Materials Scientist specializing in Photopolymer Development to innovate in 3D printing materials. You'll design and optimize photopolymer formulations and lead the transition of new materials from lab to commercial launch. This role requires experience in polymer development.
You are a scientist or engineer with a strong background in polymer development, eager to innovate in the field of 3D printing. Your experience includes designing and optimizing complex materials, and you have a deep understanding of structure-process-property relationships. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with product management, hardware, and software teams to push the boundaries of additive manufacturing. You have a passion for materials science and are excited about the potential applications in various industries such as engineering, consumer products, manufacturing, automotive, and healthcare. You are ready to take on challenges in a fast-paced environment and contribute to groundbreaking advancements in 3D printing technology.
Experience with photopolymer formulations and a track record of successful technology transfer from lab scale to commercial launch would be a plus. Familiarity with the 3D printing industry and its applications can enhance your candidacy. You are also encouraged to bring any additional skills that could contribute to the team’s success.
In this role, you will design and optimize photopolymer formulations to enhance the capabilities of additive manufacturing. You will lead the end-to-end transition of new materials from lab-scale concepts to commercial launch, ensuring a smooth technology transfer and scale-up process. Your work will involve establishing structure-process-property relationships to understand how different formulations can impact performance and usability in real-world applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative materials that meet the needs of various industries, pushing the boundaries of what is possible with 3D printing. You will also be responsible for conducting experiments, analyzing data, and iterating on formulations based on findings to achieve optimal results.
