Nuro is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for their Sensor Platform team to design and develop sensor and compute systems for robotics. You'll work with Java, C++, and Embedded Linux to create a hardware-agnostic platform. This role requires 5+ years of experience in software engineering.

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in developing systems that require high reliability and performance. Your background includes working with embedded systems and you have a strong understanding of device drivers and inter-device protocols. You are skilled in programming languages such as Java and C++, and you have experience with Embedded Linux, which is crucial for the role. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals. You are passionate about robotics and autonomous systems, and you are eager to contribute to innovative solutions that enhance the capabilities of self-driving technology.

Desirable

Experience with sensor integration and autonomous software development is a plus. Familiarity with continuous testing and validation processes will help you excel in this role. If you have worked with hardware platforms and understand the challenges of integrating software with physical devices, you will find this position particularly rewarding.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Sensor Platform team, you will design and develop the onboard software that powers Nuro's sensor and compute platform. Your work will involve creating device drivers and developing inter-device protocols that ensure seamless communication between components. You will architect and deploy Nuro's sensors and autonomous software, focusing on reliability and performance. Collaborating with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, you will define and evaluate the next generation of hardware platforms for Nuro's products. You will also build tooling to assist in continuous testing and validation, ensuring that the systems you develop meet the highest standards of quality.

You will be responsible for troubleshooting and optimizing existing systems, as well as contributing to the overall architecture of the software stack. Your role will require you to stay updated on the latest advancements in robotics and autonomous systems, allowing you to bring innovative ideas to the team. You will mentor junior engineers and help foster a culture of inclusion and psychological safety within the team, ensuring that everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute.
