SpaceX is seeking a Flight Safety Engineer for the Flight Termination System of Starship. You'll be responsible for the design and certification of safety-critical systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role requires a deep understanding of safety systems and hardware design.
You have a strong background in engineering, particularly in safety-critical systems, and possess a deep understanding of hardware design and certification processes. You are comfortable interfacing with engineering teams and regulatory partners, demonstrating extreme ownership of your projects. Your problem-solving skills are top-notch, especially when it comes to complex systems involving high levels of rigor and safety. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are adept at managing aggressive development timelines.
Experience with flight safety systems or similar safety-critical hardware is a plus. Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the aerospace industry will set you apart. You are a proactive communicator, able to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
As a Flight Safety Engineer, you will take on the responsibility of the Starship Flight Termination System's development. This includes defining detailed system designs, creating interconnect schematics, and ensuring that all hardware meets stringent safety standards. You will work closely with various engineering teams to implement and tailor regulatory requirements, ensuring that the Flight Termination System is reliable and effective. Your role will also involve post-flight reporting and analysis to continuously improve system performance and safety.
You will be expected to solve challenging problems at the intersection of safety-critical hardware and high explosives, requiring a meticulous approach to design and qualification.
