Waymo is seeking a Lead Site Reliability Engineer to manage the EMEA Waymo One SRE team and ensure the stable operation of autonomous systems. You'll work with technologies like Linux, Python, Docker, and Kubernetes. This role requires strong leadership and technical skills in reliability engineering.
You have a strong background in site reliability engineering with a focus on building and maintaining large-scale, fault-tolerant systems. Your experience includes optimizing existing infrastructure and automating processes to enhance efficiency and reliability. You possess excellent leadership skills, having managed teams and guided their professional development through effective mentorship and performance management. You are adept at aligning engineering goals with business objectives, ensuring that your team's work contributes to the overall success of the organization. Your technical expertise includes proficiency in Linux, Python, Docker, and Kubernetes, allowing you to engage deeply with the technical challenges faced by your team. You are committed to fostering a culture of reliability and continuous improvement within your team, encouraging collaboration and innovation.
You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, and you bring a demonstrated ability to engage with complex technical issues. Your experience as an individual contributor engineer complements your leadership skills, enabling you to understand and address the challenges your team encounters. You are comfortable with a travel requirement of up to 10%.
In this role, you will ramp up and learn the unique technical landscape and business needs that Waymo requires. You will manage the EMEA Waymo One SRE team, conducting regular 1:1s, setting objectives and key results (OKRs), and guiding your team's work to ensure successful execution. You will be responsible for the team's output and for developing their careers, fostering an environment where engineers can thrive and grow. You will focus on optimizing existing systems and building new infrastructure, eliminating manual, error-prone, or time-consuming work through automation. Your role will involve ensuring that products are fast, efficient, and effective, contributing to the overall mission of Waymo to improve access to mobility and enhance safety on the roads.
