Overview

Amazon is hiring an Engineering Operations Technician to maintain mission-critical technology infrastructure in Sparks, Nevada. You'll work with electrical and mechanical systems to ensure 99.999% uptime. This role requires hands-on troubleshooting skills and knowledge of data center operations.

Who you are

You are an Engineering Technician with a strong foundation in electrical and mechanical systems. You have hands-on experience troubleshooting complex equipment and are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Your expertise allows you to maintain and operate mission-critical facilities, ensuring that technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently. You understand the importance of uptime and are committed to delivering exceptional results. You thrive in collaborative settings, working alongside diverse teams of engineers and specialists to solve challenging problems. You are eager to learn and grow in your role, contributing to the success of the team and the organization.

Desirable

Experience with data center operations or similar environments is a plus. Familiarity with diesel generators, UPS systems, and three-phase electrical systems will set you apart. You are proactive in identifying issues and implementing solutions, and you have a keen eye for detail. A background in AWS infrastructure services or cloud computing is beneficial, as it aligns with the mission of keeping the cloud running effectively.

What you'll do

As an Engineering Operations Technician at Amazon, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the heartbeat of our data centers. Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment, ensuring that all systems operate at peak performance. You will work with stand-by diesel generators, switch gear, UPSs, and other critical systems to maintain a 99.999% uptime. Your role will involve collaborating with software, hardware, and network engineers to address complex challenges and improve operational efficiency. You will be responsible for conducting routine maintenance and inspections, documenting your findings, and implementing corrective actions as needed. You will also participate in team meetings to discuss ongoing projects and share insights on best practices.
