Overview

SpaceX is hiring a GNC Engineer for the Starshield project to work on spacecraft attitude dynamics and control systems. You'll focus on vehicle GNC software and hardware design, analysis, and testing. This role requires expertise in spacecraft systems and software development.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in spacecraft attitude dynamics and control systems, with experience in orbit and attitude navigation filtering. Your expertise in orbital mechanics and spacecraft systems design allows you to contribute effectively to the Starshield project. You are skilled in software development, particularly in areas relevant to vehicle GNC software and hardware design. You understand the complexities of momentum management, thermal constraints, and power generation demands in satellite missions. You thrive in high-impact environments where your contributions directly affect mission success. You are a collaborative team player who enjoys working with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.

Desirable

Experience with government or national security projects is a plus. Familiarity with satellite operations and on-orbit testing will enhance your ability to contribute to the team. A passion for space exploration and a desire to push the boundaries of technology will set you apart.

What you'll do

As a GNC Engineer on the Starshield team, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, and testing of the Attitude Determination and Control System (ADCS). You will work closely with other engineers to ensure that all Starshield vehicles can reliably balance payload pointing needs with sensor availability and mission constraints. Your role will involve developing and implementing GNC algorithms that enhance the performance of spacecraft during various mission phases. You will participate in the testing and validation of GNC systems, ensuring they meet rigorous standards for reliability and performance. You will also engage in on-orbit operations, monitoring system performance and making adjustments as necessary to optimize mission outcomes. Collaboration with other teams will be essential as you integrate GNC systems with other spacecraft subsystems.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team dedicated to advancing space technology and exploration. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will work in a dynamic environment where innovation is encouraged, and your contributions will have a direct impact on the future of space exploration. Join us in our mission to make life multi-planetary and be part of a team that is shaping the future of humanity in space.
