Instacart is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead foundational platform initiatives across Memberships and Alternate Payments. You'll work with Java and AWS to drive architectural strategy for mission-critical systems. This role requires significant experience in software engineering.
You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on building scalable and reliable systems. Your expertise in Java allows you to design and implement high-performance applications that meet the needs of a diverse user base. You are familiar with cloud technologies, particularly AWS, and understand how to leverage them for optimal system performance. Your experience with REST APIs enables you to create seamless integrations that enhance user experiences. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions. You are passionate about driving architectural decisions and have a keen eye for identifying opportunities for improvement in existing systems. Experience with microservices architecture and containerization technologies like Docker would be a plus. Familiarity with agile methodologies and experience in leading technical projects can set you apart.
In this role, you will lead the architectural strategy for Instacart's Memberships and Alternate Payments domains, ensuring that our systems can handle hundreds of millions of transactions daily. You will collaborate with product managers and other engineers to define technical requirements and translate them into actionable development plans. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing robust APIs, optimizing system performance, and ensuring high availability and reliability of services. You will also mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and best practices to foster a culture of continuous learning within the team. Regularly, you will participate in code reviews and contribute to the overall improvement of our development processes. Your work will have a direct impact on enhancing the customer experience and driving the success of Instacart's services.
