Overview

Google is seeking a Technical Program Manager for Data Center Capacity Planning to lead complex engineering projects. You'll utilize your expertise in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and AutoCAD to evaluate and design data center infrastructure. This role requires a minimum of 2 years of program management experience.

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience, along with at least 2 years of experience in program management. Your background includes experience in capacity planning, and you possess a strong foundation in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. You are detail-oriented, with excellent organizational, multitasking, and prioritization abilities. Your communication skills are top-notch, allowing you to convey complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You approach problem-solving with a data-driven mindset, ensuring that you can tackle issues effectively. You thrive in environments where you can lead multi-disciplinary engineering projects, keeping the big picture in focus while diving into unique engineering challenges.

Desirable

You have 3 years of experience in a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering role specifically within a Data Center context. Your experience includes evaluating and designing data center infrastructure, which gives you a unique perspective on the challenges faced in this field. Familiarity with AutoCAD drafting is a plus, as it allows you to contribute effectively to project designs and plans.

What you'll do

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you will lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects, utilizing your engineering expertise to guide teams through the project lifecycle. You will plan requirements with internal customers and manage project schedules, identifying risks and communicating them clearly to stakeholders. Your role will involve analyzing space and power management for data center environments, ensuring that projects align with Google's Network Architecture Standards. You will develop reporting and metrics related to data center infrastructure capacity planning, working closely with Google operations and engineering teams to create high-level project plans that identify resource needs and critical paths. Your leadership will drive the technical direction of your programs, identifying future opportunities and improving processes to enhance project outcomes.
