Overview

Databricks is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for their Trust and Safety team to lead efforts in building secure frameworks and tooling. You'll work with AWS and compliance practices to protect the platform. This role requires 9+ years of experience in software engineering.

Job Description

Who you are

You have over 9 years of professional experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Your background includes building and scaling high-performing engineering teams, particularly in application security and compliance. You understand the importance of security by design and have a proven track record of implementing security best practices across organizations.

You possess deep technical expertise in security frameworks and tooling, and you are adept at defining and executing strategies that enhance security across platforms. Your experience includes collaborating closely with engineering and product leaders to ensure that security considerations are integrated into all new initiatives. You are a strong communicator, capable of representing security practices to both senior leadership and external stakeholders.

Desirable

Experience with compliance standards and frameworks is a plus, as is familiarity with security tools and methodologies. You are passionate about mentoring and developing your team, fostering a culture of security awareness and best practices.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the Security Foundation Engineering team at Databricks, setting the direction for how security is built into every layer of the platform. You will be responsible for driving the adoption of security best practices across the organization, ensuring that all teams have access to easy-to-use, scalable frameworks and services. You will provide technical oversight for secure system design and guide efforts to reduce technical debt in core security components.

You will partner closely with engineering and product leaders to ensure that security is a fundamental aspect of all new initiatives. Your leadership will be crucial in building a high-performing team focused on application security, internal access, and compliance. You will represent Databricks' security practices internally to senior leadership and externally to the industry, showcasing the company's commitment to building a trusted Data and AI platform.
