Job Description

Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

At the core of every spacecraft lies its engine. To master this key component, we are building our own state-of-the-art Propulsion Systems, ensuring maximum efficiency, reliability, and performance for our missions.

We are now seeking a highly motivated Master’s-level student to join our Future Propulsion Systems Division in Bordeaux. In this role, you will help develop the electrical systems and/or software that drives our engine and combustion device test benches.

Key Responsibilities

As the intern in the Huracan Thrust Chamber Team, you will be directly involved in the development of our test benches for the cryogenic engine and its subsystems. This role will evolve over time, but typical responsibilities include:

  • Improving electrical test bench systems from concept to integration and commissioning.

  • Developing automatization for test data ingestion of various test benches to internal database and post-test analysis software.

  • Performing hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and writing clear technical documentation.

  • Contributing to combustion device testing and test bench operation

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Master (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related technical field.

  • Ability to write electrical schematics.

  • Experience in Python scripting.

  • Experience of LabVIEW software (Realtime system) is a plus.

  • Curious, organized, and able to drive a project autonomously while communicating within a fast-moving team.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Prior involvement in a student rocket, Formula Student, or robotics project is nice to have.

Expectations

  • Strong organizing and prioritization of tasks.

  • Positive and flexible attitude to get the job done in a team.

  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the business.

  • Demonstrate behavior that is consistent with The Exploration Company’s core values of Commitment, Innovation, Trust, Quality, and Teamwork.

Why you should join us!

What makes us special here at The Exploration Company and why we think you will enjoy working here is:

  • We’re Agile - we make decisions fast whilst keeping our goals and systems in mind

  • We’re Open and Collaborative - we are transparent about risks and obstacles, so that we can cooperate to overcome them

  • We have a lot of Fun - we refuel our energy knowing we are democratising space. It’s a wonderful and rare opportunity, are YOU up for the challenge?

We'd love to hear from you if you wish to be a part of our journey. Please submit your CV now for immediate consideration and we will be in touch shortly.
