You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems at scale — you've owned services from design through deployment and have navigated complex distributed systems issues. You possess deep expertise in Java and Spring — you've shipped high-throughput APIs that handle millions of requests and have strong opinions on service architecture, dependency injection, and testing strategies. You are data-driven and have experience participating in and leading architectural decisions, sharing improvement opportunities, and bringing innovation to the table. You understand the importance of code quality and are committed to performing insightful pull-request reviews while building reusable code for future use. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy interacting with product teams to ensure alignment on project goals. Desirable

Experience with health data platforms like AppleHealth and Google Health would be a plus, as well as familiarity with gamification techniques to enhance user engagement. You are comfortable working in a remote setting and can effectively communicate and collaborate with team members across different countries.

What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Challenges & Gamification team, you will be responsible for developing new products that engage users and enhance their experience with Wellhub services. You will work closely with health data platforms to create a seamless way to access and share user health data across the Wellhub ecosystem. Your role will involve designing and implementing scalable backend solutions that support the gamification of wellness activities. You will participate in architectural discussions and contribute to the overall technical direction of the team. You will also be responsible for maintaining high standards of code quality and ensuring that design documentation is up to date. Your contributions will directly impact the user experience and help drive the mission of making every company a wellness company.
