SpaceX is hiring a Laser Tracker Toolmaker - Level 4/5 to contribute to the Starship program by building and improving mechanical systems and tooling operations. You'll utilize skills in GD&T and laser tracking software to ensure quality and precision in manufacturing.
You have a strong background in mechanical systems and tooling operations, with a deep understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) that allows you to interpret blueprints effectively. Your experience includes collecting geometric data using laser trackers and model-based software such as Verisurf, ensuring that you can discern the best methods for establishing reference systems for various tasks. You are skilled in analyzing collected data to provide direction for tooling operations, integrating process monitoring with fabrication processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
You understand the complexities involved in fabricating large structures, including the environmental effects such as temperature swings and weld shrinkage. Your communication skills enable you to effectively collaborate with fabricators, machinists, assemblers, engineers, and other stakeholders, ensuring that operations are performed safely while adhering to SpaceX's quality standards. You maintain an orderly work environment that maximizes utility for all team members, contributing to a culture of excellence and teamwork.
In this role, you will be part of an elite team dedicated to the success of the Starship program. Your responsibilities will include using your expertise in GD&T to interpret blueprints at all assembly levels, ensuring that all tooling operations meet the highest standards. You will collect geometric data using laser trackers and apply your knowledge to establish reference systems for various tasks, both on and off the parts being worked on.
You will analyze the data collected to provide insights and direction for remaining tooling operations, integrating process monitoring with fabrication processes to ensure precision in welding and machining details. Your role will also involve applying fabrication processes on large structures, taking into account environmental factors that may affect the integrity of the work. You will communicate effectively with various teams to ensure that all operations are conducted safely and in line with SpaceX's quality standards.
