Sr. Manager, Backend Engineering (Payment)

Who you are

You have over 10 years of software development experience, with a strong background in backend engineering and a proven track record of managing teams for at least 2 years. Your experience includes mentoring and leading technical teams, ensuring high-quality code through rigorous code reviews, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. You thrive in Agile environments, managing multiple concurrent programs and projects while defining technical visions and roadmaps for mission-critical projects. Your ability to coordinate between stakeholders and lead engineers is a key strength, allowing you to uncover opportunities for innovation and build scalable platforms. You possess solid knowledge of engineering and testing best practices, and you have experience diving deep into critical system issues to resolve them effectively.

Desirable

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is preferred, along with experience in the payment domain. You have a background in designing and developing large-scale global system architectures and defining technical roadmaps and visions. Familiarity with AWS cloud computing and Kubernetes environments is a plus, as is experience in developing data pipelines using technologies like Spark, Hadoop, Cassandra, and Kafka. You are comfortable with Agile software methodologies and have experience handling large-scale data processing tasks.

What you'll do

As the Senior Manager of Backend Engineering at Coupang, you will lead the Product Engineering team responsible for developing and enhancing Coupang's payment services. Your primary goal is to ensure that Coupang becomes the most convenient online payment platform for customers. You will participate in the development of unique fintech services and oversee the implementation of the first one-touch payment system, "Coupay," ensuring its stability and continuous improvement. You will collaborate with various departments, including accounting, finance, and fintech development teams, to enhance the customer payment experience. Your role will involve problem-solving and service development to ensure that millions of customers benefit from improved payment services. You will also be responsible for defining the technical vision and roadmap for critical projects, ensuring alignment between stakeholders and engineering leads.
