Google is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in CPU Performance Modeling. You'll work on performance modeling and analysis, utilizing C++ and SQL to develop innovative silicon solutions. This role requires 5+ years of experience in software development.
You have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience. With 5 years of experience in software development, particularly in C++, you have a strong foundation in performance modeling and systems data analysis. Your expertise extends to performance analysis and workload characterization, making you well-equipped to tackle complex challenges in CPU performance.
Your background includes a Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, which complements your 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms. You possess a deep understanding of modern, high-performance CPU and ML architecture, as well as micro-architecture. Your ability to learn other coding languages enhances your versatility in the field.
You excel in object-oriented programming and database design, with excellent SQL skills that allow you to manipulate and analyze data effectively. Your collaborative spirit drives you to work closely with hardware and software teams, contributing to the development of cutting-edge silicon solutions that power Google's products.
While not required, experience with visualization tools and debugging will set you apart. Your familiarity with performance metrics, benchmarks, and measuring tools will be invaluable as you define methods to model CPU performance at varying accuracy levels. You are eager to support architectural explorations and decision-making processes, correlating performance projections with measured post-silicon data.
In this role, you will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve CPU software modeling and other software tools. You will manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, ensuring that your contributions align with the team's goals. Collaborating with the CPU Architecture team and SOC performance modeling team, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of CPU performance metrics and optimization strategies.
Your responsibilities will include defining methods and technologies to model CPU performance, supporting architectural explorations, and making informed decisions based on performance data. You will work closely with system teams to ensure that your modeling efforts contribute to the overall success of Google's direct-to-consumer products.
As part of a team that pushes boundaries, you will be instrumental in developing custom silicon solutions that deliver unparalleled performance and efficiency. Your expertise will shape the next generation of hardware experiences, impacting millions of users worldwide. You will also have the opportunity to learn and grow within a dynamic environment, collaborating with some of the brightest minds in the industry.
At Google, we foster a culture of innovation and collaboration. You will have access to resources and support that enable you to excel in your role and contribute to groundbreaking projects.
