Overview

Google is seeking a Data Center Technician to support hardware operations in Lincoln, NE. You'll be responsible for assembling and troubleshooting technical equipment, requiring skills in Linux and networking protocols. This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience in a data center environment.

Job Description

Who you are

You have experience with the assembly of mechanical or electrical systems, or performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment. You are skilled in diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols. You possess the physical ability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) of equipment and can exert yourself physically over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting. You are flexible and can work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, and holidays as required.

You hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, and you have completed the online Google IT Support Professional Certificate program. With at least 2 years of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems and computer/server hardware or networking protocols, you are well-prepared for this role. You have experience performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment or in a similar role, such as systems administration or help desk technician. You thrive in a collaborative environment and can adapt to changes in a dynamic work setting.

What you'll do

As a Data Center Technician at Google, you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the physical infrastructure that supports Google's powerful search technology. You will install, configure, and test hardware components, ensuring they meet Google's high standards for performance and reliability. You will also troubleshoot and resolve security issues, ensuring that data is managed according to Google security standards. Your role will involve disassembling equipment that has reached its end-of-life and performing preventative maintenance based on identified issues.

You will work closely with other technicians and engineers to repair and fix equipment, servers, and machines, contributing to the overall efficiency of the data center operations. Your ability to collaborate and partner with teams will be essential in overcoming challenges and ensuring smooth operations. You will also have the opportunity to learn and grow within the hardware operations team, gaining valuable experience in a cutting-edge environment.
