Sr Software Engineer - Grocery & Retail

**About the team** You would be joining an exciting team in Uber Grocery tasked with building the best-in-class consumer shopping experience. This team is responsible for building the platform that powers the in-app merchandising and promotions for Grocery consumers around the world, enabling them to easily discover and shop for their favorite merchants and items. **About the Role** Uber started by transporting people from place to place. It now transports nearly anything a customer could want or need, on-demand. Grocery & Retail is one of the largest growth bets for Uber, bringing on-demand grocery delivery to customers of Uber Eats around the world.In this role, you will partner with stakeholders and lead team efforts to build and maintain backend services and solutions to support user-facing products and internal tools and platforms used across Uber. **Basic Qualifications** - PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field **OR** 3-years full-time Software Engineering work experience, **WHICH INCLUDES** 2-years total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: - Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go) _Note the 2-years total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these).  The years of specialized experience are not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated._ **Prefered Qualification** - Product engineering - Scalability engineering - Distributed systems **Uber’s Mission** Uber's mission is to reimagine the way the world moves for the better. For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$198,000 per year - USD$220,000 per year. For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$198,000 per year - USD$220,000 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
