Affirm is seeking a Backend Engineer II to enhance their Identity Decisioning systems. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-availability systems. This role requires a strong understanding of product and engineering contexts.
You have a solid background in backend engineering, with experience in building and maintaining production systems. You understand the importance of high-availability and low-latency systems, especially in the context of consumer onboarding and authentication. You are comfortable collaborating with product management, design, and analytics teams, articulating technical constraints while considering risks and trade-offs. You are proactive in supporting your peers and stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of tasks and projects.
You are a team player who values community and growth within your team. You engage in activities that promote development and collaboration, contributing to a positive team culture. You are also familiar with monitoring metrics and supporting operational availability, ready to escalate issues when necessary. You understand the significance of maintaining system performance and reliability, especially in critical paths for products.
Experience with specific backend technologies or frameworks would be beneficial, as would familiarity with metrics monitoring and incident response practices. A background in identity management systems or consumer authentication processes would also be advantageous.
In this role, you will break down larger projects into manageable tasks, collaborating with your team to deliver them in phases. You will participate in ideation sessions with product management and design, ensuring that technical constraints are considered in decision-making processes. Your contributions will directly impact the onboarding and verification journeys of consumers across Affirm’s product surfaces.
You will support the operations of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring relevant metrics, ensuring that systems remain operational and efficient. You will also participate in on-call efforts, ready to address any issues that arise.
