Job Description

The Amazon Software Builder Experience (ASBX) organization that serve's Amazon's huge internal builder community is looking for a talented software development manager to lead the evolution of compute metadata for the massive internal compute clusters that power applications across the company, including AWS services like S3, SQS, DynamoDB, and IAM, as well as Amazon.com, Alexa, Prime Video, and more.

You will work in a team setting, solving technically challenging problems, as well as collaborating with other teams in Amazon Web Services, and Amazon's entire software development community.

Key job responsibilities
As Software Development Manager in ASBX, you’ll be empowered to take ownership of a broad range of responsibilities, such as:
* Directly hiring, retaining, and growing top engineering talent for your team.
* Being a clear technical voice, partnering with other teams to deliver a service which will scale with the needs of the Amazon business.
* Reliably delivering high quality technical solutions that will delight our customers.
* Operating a critical service for the Amazon business.

A day in the life
You will have the opportunity to lead and develop your team. You will drive feature delivery through all phases of the software production cycle including design, development, testing, deployment, operation and maintenance. We own and build every aspect of our services, from UI to back-end systems and databases. Because our technology plays a key role in Amazon’s ability to innovate you will have the chance to productively collaborate with a very large number teams.

10025- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
