Mindbody is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to build and maintain performant backend systems that drive real-world experiences. You'll work with Java and Spring to develop scalable applications. This position requires a strong background in backend engineering and a passion for enhancing wellness through technology.
You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems at scale — you've owned services from design through deployment and have war stories from debugging complex distributed systems issues. You care about writing great code and solving the right problems, always keeping the end-user in mind. You have a deep understanding of engineering best practices, including automated testing, peer reviews, and observability, and you champion these practices within your team. You approach development with empathy, understanding how your work supports both our partners and their communities. You are also eager to mentor others and help foster a collaborative, inclusive engineering culture.
Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure would be a plus, as well as familiarity with microservices architecture. A background in the wellness or fitness industry could also enhance your fit for this role.
In this role, you will build and maintain performant backend systems and applications that drive real-world experiences. You will partner with Product, Design, and QA teams to bring features to life from ideation through deployment, always iterating with the end-user in mind. You will lead and influence architecture decisions that prioritize scalability and simplicity, ensuring that the systems you build can handle increasing loads as the user base grows. You will seek feedback and iterate quickly, balancing innovation with reliability. Your role will also involve mentoring junior engineers, helping them grow their skills and contribute effectively to the team.
