Microsoft is hiring a Principal Software Engineer for the Azure Networking team to build software for large-scale data centers. You'll work with Azure technologies and focus on Test Driven Development and Continuous Integration. This role requires extensive experience in software engineering.
You have a strong background in software engineering with a focus on building systems for large-scale infrastructures — your experience includes working with cloud technologies and understanding the complexities of networking in data centers. You are proficient in C# and have a solid grasp of Azure services, which enables you to contribute effectively to the Azure Networking team. Your expertise in Test Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CICD) practices ensures that you can help the team maintain high-quality software standards. Experience with networking protocols and hardware is a plus, as it will help you understand the intricacies of the software running on physical switches and routers. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will lead the development of software for the SONiC team, which is responsible for the software that runs on switches and routers in Azure data centers. You will work on enhancing the capabilities of the software to support new generation switches and improve packet forwarding features. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and implement robust solutions that meet the needs of millions of servers globally. You will also mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge of best practices in software development and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
You will be instrumental in building a vibrant open-source community around the SONiC software, engaging with other cloud providers and developers to enhance the software's capabilities. Your contributions will directly impact the performance and reliability of Azure's networking infrastructure, ensuring that it meets the demands of modern cloud services.
