Google is seeking an Entry-Level Site Reliability Engineer to build and maintain large-scale, fault-tolerant systems for Google Cloud. You'll work with Java and Python, focusing on system reliability and performance. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or possess equivalent practical experience. You have at least 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, gained through coursework, projects, internships, or Open Source contributions. You are familiar with data structures and algorithms, which you have applied in practical scenarios. Your background may include a Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, which is preferred but not mandatory. You are intellectually curious and enjoy problem-solving, thriving in a collaborative environment where diverse perspectives are valued. You are eager to learn and adapt, ready to tackle the unique challenges of scale that come with working at Google Cloud.
As a Site Reliability Engineer at Google, you will combine software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the reliability and uptime of Google Cloud's services, both internally critical and externally visible. You will engage in software development aimed at optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure, and automating processes to eliminate manual work. You will monitor system capacity and performance, ensuring that services meet customer needs and improve rapidly. You will participate in design reviews with peers and stakeholders, contributing to decisions on technology choices and system architecture. Your role will involve triaging product or system issues, debugging, and resolving problems by analyzing their sources and impacts on hardware, network, or service operations.
