Samsara is hiring a Senior Software Engineer II for their Fleet Safety team to build fullstack systems and customer-facing products. You'll work with Java, Python, and AWS to develop AI-driven safety solutions. This position requires 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background in building scalable applications and systems. Your expertise includes working with Java and Python, and you understand how to leverage cloud technologies like AWS to enhance application performance and reliability. You are familiar with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes, which you have used to streamline deployment processes and improve system efficiency.
You possess a solid understanding of REST API design principles and have experience in developing and integrating APIs that facilitate seamless communication between services. Your analytical skills enable you to transform complex data into actionable insights, and you are comfortable working with large datasets to drive decision-making processes. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet user needs.
Experience with AI and machine learning concepts is a plus, as you will be involved in developing AI-driven safety solutions. Familiarity with video processing and telemetry data will also be beneficial in this role. You are a proactive problem solver who enjoys tackling challenges and finding innovative solutions to enhance operational safety and efficiency.
As a Senior Software Engineer II on the Risk Intelligence team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing fullstack systems that power Samsara's AI-driven safety and risk solutions. You will work on transforming massive streams of video and telemetry data into actionable insights that help fleets reduce accidents and manage operational risk. Your role will involve collaborating with product managers and designers to define requirements and develop features that enhance user experience and safety outcomes.
You will take ownership of the software development lifecycle, from initial design through deployment and monitoring. This includes writing clean, maintainable code, conducting code reviews, and ensuring that best practices are followed throughout the development process. You will also be involved in troubleshooting and resolving issues in production environments, ensuring that systems remain reliable and performant.
In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to help them grow in their careers.
