Job Description

The Amazon HR team is passionate about business partnering in its truest sense. Reporting to the Director, HR WHS, you will play a critical role in developing and delivering the HR plan for Global Road Safety (GRS). You will work closely with the senior leadership teams and the wider HR team, utilizing your excellent communication, coaching and influencing skills to influence leaders, drive employee engagement and manage change.

To be successful in this role, you will help leaders look around corners with data-driven recommendations for innovative programs as well as iterate on current programs to improve performance, retention and the employee experience. You must have the ability to see patterns, diagnose issues, and recommend and develop both immediate and long-term solutions and mechanisms. This includes partnering with business leaders to shape the talent, workforce, operational processes and systems needed to support unique business models and build an environment where employees can develop, contribute and thrive. This role will require you to roll up your sleeves and engage on a hands-on basis. High business acumen, manager coaching and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential


Key job responsibilities
The Principal HR Generalist works as part of the WHS HR leadership team, developing and delivering strategic HR plans and ensuring the effective delivery of an excellent, customer-focused HR service to the operations team. Responsibilities include:
- Recruitment and Selection: As an Amazon Leader you’ll be passionate about Hiring and Developing the Best – it’s one of our Leadership Principles. You’ll be involved in shaping and recruiting our own team and senior operational leadership roles, identifying those who can become true Amazonians. You will also partner the Talent Acquisition team, helping them to further develop the recruitment plan, the employer brand and constantly innovate to ensure the business area remains an employer of choice.
- Employee Engagement: Employee engagement is at the heart of everything we do. We care about our employees so that they can care about our customers. You will take Ownership for ensuring that fair, consistent and transparent employee relations processes are applied to this business area, making it a great place to work. You will lead and partner projects to develop and implement employment policies and procedures, Thinking Big about international integration. You’ll Earn the Trust of Others by forming strong relationships with operational leaders and with HR peers, allowing you to ‘monitor the pulse’ of employees and from there drive continuous improvement in engagement. Your expertise in the field will allow you to support and advise your team and your customers on complex ER cases, Insisting on the Highest Standards in case management.
- Talent Management & Succession Planning: Our Talent Reviews ensure that the great people we employ are developed and grow within our business. You’ll be the leader of talent development across the business area and utilize talent tools and the information they generate to identify leaders of the future. You will take on the role of a coach and will work closely with your senior leaders and the HR team, mentoring and supporting them in the achievement of their personal goals and those of their teams.
- Organization Design & Development: As part of the senior leadership team in this business you will use future forecasts and plans to anticipate, design and implement org design mechanisms which allow the business to grow gracefully, deliver ambitious goals, and ensure an exceptional employee experience.
- Generalist HR: As an experienced senior generalist, you’ll lead and inspire your team. Your open communication and credible decision making will help Deliver Results at a fast pace; you’ll definitely be someone with a Bias for Action. Most importantly, you’ll be fair, pragmatic and commercial - someone who is proactive, who enjoys being visible and delivering tangible results to your customers and the business as a whole.- Bachelor's degree or above
- 5+ years of HR within an international, fast-paced, and customer-driven environment experience
- Experience analyzing data to make business decisions
- Experience communicating effectively with senior leadership
- Experience in English-language communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partnering well with people at all levels within an organization- Experience working with the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional environment
- Experience leading complex programs with significant change impact across organizational boundaries
- Experience in HR within an international, fast-paced and customer-driven environment

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $230,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
