Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Software Engineer for the Propulsion Simulation & Data Analysis team to develop models and conduct analysis for advanced rocket engines. You'll work with Python and C++ to improve engine performance and safety.

Who you are

You have a strong background in software engineering with experience in developing models and conducting data analysis — your expertise in Python and C++ allows you to create accurate simulations and predictions. You understand thermofluid physics and have a keen interest in propulsion systems, which drives your passion for aerospace technology. You are detail-oriented and capable of conducting thorough anomaly resolutions, ensuring the reliability of high-stakes operations. Your collaborative spirit enables you to work effectively with cross-functional teams, contributing to the success of complex projects. You are eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment, and you thrive on challenges that push the boundaries of technology.

Desirable

Experience with simulation software or tools relevant to propulsion systems would be a plus, as would familiarity with data-driven decision-making processes in engineering contexts. A background in aerospace engineering or related fields can enhance your contributions to the team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will maintain and improve the accuracy of the lumped-parameter thermofluid physics model of the Raptor engine, ensuring that simulations reflect real-world performance. You will conduct engine cycle analysis to guide future engine designs and thrust upgrades, playing a critical role in the development of cutting-edge rocket technology. Your responsibilities will also include utilizing the engine model for anomaly resolution, where you will analyze data from engine tests to identify and rectify issues. You will collaborate closely with other engineers to translate engine test data into actionable insights, enhancing the safety and efficiency of flight trajectories. Your work will directly impact the design process and operational success of SpaceX missions, making your contributions vital to the company's goals.
