Job Description

We are seeking an Engineer III to contribute significantly to our cloud-based NMS platform development. This role is ideal for software engineers with 2-5 years of experience who want to specialize in network management software and take on increased responsibility in building enterprise-grade solutions for network infrastructure management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Feature Ownership: Take end-to-end ownership of medium-complexity features including network device configuration modules and monitoring dashboards

  • Network Device Integration: Develop integrations with various network equipment vendors' APIs and management protocols

  • Data Visualization: Create interactive charts, graphs, and network topology visualizations for real-time network monitoring

  • Performance Optimization: Optimize application performance for handling network telemetry data and real-time updates

  • Cross-team Collaboration: Work closely with backend teams to design APIs for network device management

  • Mobile Development: Contribute to mobile applications used by field technicians for network device configuration

  • Automation Scripts: Develop scripts and tools for network device provisioning and bulk configuration operations

  • Customer Issue Resolution: Debug and resolve customer-reported issues in network management workflows

  • Junior Mentoring: Provide guidance and code reviews for Engineer II team members

  • Technical Research: Research new networking technologies and evaluate their integration into our platform

Technical Requirements

  • Frontend Proficiency: Solid experience with React.js/Angular, TypeScript, and modern CSS frameworks

  • Backend Development: Good experience with Node.js, Python, or Java, including API development and database integration

  • Network Protocols: Basic understanding of SNMP, SSH, and HTTP-based device management protocols

  • Database Skills: Experience with both relational databases and time-series databases for network metrics storage

  • Cloud Services: Hands-on experience with AWS/Azure/GCP services, particularly networking and compute services

  • Real-time Systems: Understanding of WebSocket, Server-Sent Events, or similar technologies for real-time data updates

  • Testing: Experience with automated testing frameworks and test-driven development practices

  • DevOps Basics: Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes

Networking Domain Knowledge

  • Understanding of network device types (switches, routers, access points) and their basic functions

  • Familiarity with network monitoring concepts and key performance indicators

  • Basic knowledge of network topologies and device relationships

  • Understanding of enterprise network management workflows

  • Interest in learning advanced networking concepts and protocols

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related technical field

  • 2-5 years of software development experience with increasing responsibility

  • Some exposure to networking concepts or infrastructure software (preferred but not required)

  • Experience working in Agile development environments

  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills

  • Good communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
