Amazon is seeking a Senior Product Designer for their LEO initiative to enhance global broadband access through innovative consumer products. You'll engage in mechanical part design and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams. This role requires expertise in design tools like AutoCAD and Adobe XD.
You have 5+ years of experience in product design, particularly in mechanical and electromechanical systems. Your background includes engaging with cross-disciplinary teams to create innovative consumer products, and you have a strong understanding of design attributes and trade-offs. You are skilled in using design tools such as AutoCAD and Adobe XD, and you can effectively communicate with engineering and industrial design teams to ensure the success of your projects.
You are detail-oriented and understand the importance of material selection and manufacturing processes. Your ability to work efficiently under challenging schedules while optimizing for cost and performance sets you apart. You thrive in collaborative environments and are passionate about creating products that enhance user experiences.
Experience with satellite technology or broadband systems would be a plus. Familiarity with high-volume manufacturing processes and the ability to scale designs effectively is also desirable. You are open to mentoring junior designers and sharing your knowledge with the team.
In this role, you will be responsible for the mechanical part and assembly design of products for the Amazon LEO program. You will engage with a cross-disciplinary team to conceive and bring to market innovative consumer products aimed at increasing global broadband access. Your key responsibilities will include testing, evaluating, and selecting designs that meet the program's objectives. You will work closely with manufacturing partners to ensure that your designs are optimized for high-volume production.
You will identify key design attributes and work quickly to converge on effective electromechanical designs. Your role will involve highlighting any concerning issues to leadership and providing actionable recommendations to resolve them. You will be expected to communicate effectively with various teams, including product development, hardware, and antenna engineers, to ensure that all aspects of the design are aligned.
