SpaceX is hiring a Propulsion Engineer for the Raptor Development Operations team to guide the development of future engine versions. You'll be responsible for system-level ownership and collaboration across various engineering disciplines. This role requires expertise in propulsion systems and engineering principles.
You have a strong background in propulsion engineering, with experience in system-level ownership and development processes. Your detailed knowledge of engine systems allows you to effectively define requirements and ensure compatibility with vehicle systems. You possess excellent planning and communication skills, enabling you to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
You are adept at test planning and data review, with a focus on anomaly resolution during engine testing. Your technical depth spans hardware, fluids, operations, structures, GNC, and software, making you a versatile engineer capable of tackling complex challenges in engine development.
Experience with full flow staged combustion engines or similar propulsion systems is a plus. Familiarity with the aerospace industry and its specific requirements will enhance your ability to contribute to the team.
As a Propulsion Engineer on the Raptor Development Operations team, you will own critical system-level processes from design through testing and flight. You will establish hardware and operational requirements, collaborating with other engineers to ensure that interfacing systems meet these requirements. Your role will involve detailed test planning and on-console test support, where you will apply your expertise to resolve any anomalies that arise during testing.
You will guide the development of future versions of the Raptor engine, ensuring that each iteration meets the high standards set by SpaceX. Your responsibilities will include verifying capabilities and ensuring that all systems are compatible with the overall vehicle design. You will work closely with teams across both Raptor and Starship, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and excellence.
