Job Description

AWS is looking for a talented government contracts lawyer to join the AWS World Wide Public Sector Legal team supporting Federal Government customers in the National Security arena. This position will be based at HQ2 in Arlington, Virginia.

This Corporate Counsel will support AWS's public sector sales teams by negotiating, drafting, and advising on a wide range of procurement, technology licensing, and compliance matters involving Federal Government customers. The ideal candidate will have experience with Federal Government procurement authorities such as the FAR and DFARS, and be familiar with government contracts dispute resolution processes before the Government Accountability Office (GAO), the Court of Federal Claims (COFC) and various Boards of Contract Appeals. This position will also assist with contract compliance issues.

The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.- 5+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- In depth knowledge of U.S. government procurement processes and contracting laws, rules, and regulations- Security Clearance: Preferred for Candidates to have an active U.S. Government TS/SCI security clearance or the ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance
- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
- Experience in-house at a technology company, law firm, or government agency advising clients in the government contracting or technology industry
- Experience as a legal advisor to government procurement officials (particularly at the Federal level)
- Experience in reviewing and negotiating legal terms of a broad range of enterprise technology commercial contracts.
- Experience engaging with U.S. government contracting officials, system integrators, prime contractors, and resellers
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgment, even in ambiguous situations
- Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
- Strong written and oral communication skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
