Amazon Middle East and North Africa (MENA) team is looking for an AI/ML Engineer who is passionate about building great products for our Customers & Sellers. The role will be based in Amman, JOR and must have Software engineering experience along with the experience in data science/ML/AI.
This role is based in Amman, Jordan, a strategic hub for our AI and Machine Learning initiatives in the MENA region. The successful candidate will help build ML capabilities locally, directly supporting millions of customers and sellers across the region. Key job responsibilities
As an AI/ML Engineer, you will...
- Design and develop advanced machine learning architectures and intelligent systems
- Create robust, scalable ML infrastructure and pipelines
- Develop end-to-end AI solutions addressing complex technical and business challenges
- Architect machine learning models with a focus on performance, scalability, and efficiency
- Conduct advanced research and prototype innovative AI/ML approaches
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align technical solutions with strategic objectives
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical knowledge sharing
- Lead technical design reviews and provide architectural guidance
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
Proven experience applying machine learning or AI in practice — including building, training, and deploying models into production environments.
Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used in ML/AI (e.g., Python, Java, or C++).
Strong software engineering foundations (data structures, algorithms, version control, testing, code reviews).
Experience working with structured and unstructured datasets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Proven experience applying machine learning or AI in practice — including building, training, and deploying models into production environments.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used in ML/AI (e.g., Python, Java, or C++).
- Strong software engineering foundations (data structures, algorithms, version control, testing, code reviews).
- Experience working with structured and unstructured datasets.- Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
- Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Hugging Face).
- Experience with cloud-based AI/ML services, including AWS SageMaker, Bedrock, EMR, or equivalent services on other platforms (e.g., GCP Vertex AI, Azure ML).
- Familiarity with MLOps practices (CI/CD for ML, model monitoring, feature stores, model registries, automated retraining pipelines).
- Experience working with large-scale datasets and optimizing performance at scale.
- Knowledge of modern data architectures and related technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka, distributed data systems).
- Strong ability to translate business problems into well-defined ML solutions, with measurable impact.
